Imari
Imari should be spending her spring break in Japan with her beloved Obaasan, but it was cancelled. She isn’t with her friends Lizzie and Rizelle lounging on a beach in the Canary Islands either. When her Air Force dad’s leave is changed due to a last-minute classified assignment, her plans are suddenly altered. Instead, of a scheduled trip with her father, she’s flying solo from Frankfurt, Germany to her cousin’s house in California. These plans will also fall apart before she even lands in San Francisco.
Imari's story is one of friendship resilience, and the support community members have for each other. Her adventures touch on military families, international living, foster care, high functioning autism, standing up to mean people, and kindness. It is YA contemporary fiction, but women of all ages appreciate it too. It is a quick read with 43,060 words, appealing to military brats, military families, families with special needs members, teachers and anyone with a heart.
